ABOUT THE THERAPIST
Ashleigh Castro
She earned her Masters Degree in Counseling in December 2007 from Loyola University New Orleans. Since that time, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings including community based, clinic based, and a residential based setting. She has worked with clients ranging in age from 5 to 80; however, her primary clinical focus is adult psychotherapy. Ashleigh gained her experience in substance abuse disorders from when she worked as an Addiction Counselor and later the Assistant Director for a women's residential treatment facility. She has also worked with clients who have severe and persistent mental illness, such as Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder. Her experience in other issues, such as depression, anxiety, anger management, and couples counseling stems from her years in private practice. She has many years of experience, both in the role of clinician as well as supervisor, and is a Board Approved Supervisor for PLPC's.
Ashleigh approaches the therapeutic process from an exploratory perspective. She seeks to understand each client and what they have experienced in their life that has led to them seeking out counseling services. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness based techniques to assist clients in focusing on what changes can be made to their lives today.
Ashleigh views the therapeutic relationship as one that is non-judgmental, safe, and supportive. It is not her goal to tell you how to better your life, but to go on the journey with you and explore how making effective changes in your life can lead to one that is happy and healthy.
